This International Women’s Day we’re celebrating all of the fantastic women in the Card Saver team, including our Head of Operations, Nichola.
As Head of Operations, Nichola’s role is to lead, manage, and deliver an efficient and effective service to customers whilst planning for growth and continuous improvement within a fast-moving industry. All whilst ensuring her team are well equipped to deliver our goal of being the best service provider in the industry.
Nichola has been in management positions since she was seventeen-years-old, and has a proven track record of working within reputable companies that have experienced astronomical growth. During this time, she has also successfully faced challenges that the economic climate has thrown her way, whilst learning to embrace change.
Unlike some companies, Nichola doesn’t feel restricted at Card Saver, and feels there “is no red tape”. She believes everyone brings ideas to the table and contributes to Card Saver’s organisational success. “We are very much a team”, she says.
When asked about her biggest influences and icons, Nichola mentioned that she has been lucky enough to work for a very successful, commercially astute and driven woman for many years before she joined Card Saver. “Not only successful, well-known and respected in her industry, but also a mother to three boys with a looked after home. I learnt a lot from her and she inspired me to think anything is possible”.
Regarding equal opportunities for women at Card Saver, Nichola is proud to say her management team do not segregate people, and purely focus on capabilities of the job and how they can add to Card Saver’s success.
Nichola believes and advocates that everyone should be given the same opportunities and that it shouldn’t be whether you’re male, female, or who has the loudest voice. “Opportunities should be measured on whether you can do the job or not”, she says. As a fantastic and passionate mother to her six-year-old daughter, Nichola expresses that she wants to set a good example for her daughter, and for her to also believe that hard work pays off no matter what.
Finally, we asked Nichola what advice she would give to any young women considering pursuing a similar career. She says “See an opportunity in everything and don’t be afraid to think outside the box. You may not get it right every time, but at least you try your hardest. After a bad day, a little gin and tonic always seems to help!”.
