Last Friday, Card Saver took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, and raised money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Our team brought in a selection of delicious home-baked cakes and plenty of shop-bought treats including vegan cinnamon buns, battenberg, unicorn cupcakes and lots of other tasty treats which were on sale throughout the day.
There was also a prize for the Star Baker, which was won by Zoe Sumner who baked a mouth-watering chocolate cake which sold out in minutes.
Macmillan Cancer Support has also for the first time added a cashless option to its fundraising packs for its annual event the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
The NFC tag – which allowed people to pay through their smartphones – was sent out in a large proportion of fundraising packs as a trial in time for this year’s event, which is the second biggest charity fundraising event in the UK.
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, which first took place in 1990, is an annual event by Macmillan Cancer Support which hosts coffee mornings across the UK, raising almost £27 million last year. According to Macmillan, one in two people are affected by cancer in their lifetime, and the charity provides physical, financial and emotional support to help people live their lives to the full.
If you haven’t had a chance to hold your own fundraiser this year, or give any cash, you can still donate to Macmillan here.
